Acrobatic Stilt Performance, “The Legislation: Citizen Ship,”
by Global Stilt Congress at Arcosanti, Arizona
May 31 and June 1 @ 6pm
On Friday, May 31 and Saturday, June 1, at 6pm, Carpetbag Brigade and Arcosanti invite the public to witness a unique performance on stilts combining dance, acrobatics, and aerial work! The show takes place at the iconic Arcosanti site, which is hosting this event for the fifth time.
The Legislation: Citizen Ship, is the culminating performance of a two week intensive workshop called Global Stilt Congress, that delves deep into training on stilts with Carpetbag Brigade, as well as exploring a wide variety of traditions and techniques for stilt walking. The performers include people from all over the United States and around the world, who are coming together to train and create this original show, exploring the themes of belonging and bordering.
In addition to an ensemble of performers on stilts, the show includes spoken word poets Leah Marche and KJ Miner, live banjo music played by Steven Ayers, and an unusual tour of Arcosanti, as the show guides the audience through different areas using the location as set and stage for the performance. Tickets for this event are $20 online for general admission, $10 for students. Tickets at the door will be $25 for general admission.
We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve partnered with Phoenix Diners Collective for a special pop-up dinner experience! Tickets to this special dinner event will be $40 for the general public. Menu TBA. (The $40 meal ticket does NOT include a performance ticket).
We invite people of all ages to come participate in this fantastic event!
