Performances

The Carpetbag Brigade has evolved the following types of performance modalities for their productions.

Spectacle-based Drama uses the overlap of dance, theater and circus to produce a rich sensory site-flexible performance style frequently using acrobatic stilts, performing before large audiences outside (but not always) and relying on text-free physical actions and choreography to create dramaturgical coherence.

Self-devised Intimate Theater operates on the intersections of archetype and personality, history and imagination. We create non-linear narratives that evokes a rich sensual environment of live music, poetry, song, action and dance. These pieces operate as a continuous form of theatrical research in which we build upon our previous explorations to further refine and reform our performance intentions.

Community Project Residency Performances involve a local population that becomes steeped in our training and performance techniques and focuses their research on an issue of regional importance. The Performance may integrate the members of The Carpetbag Brigade into local presentation.

Collaborative performance can include any of the above modalites. The primary feature of a collaborative performance is the shared work and production process with another professional group of artists.
